The genetic system has moved to a number system, allowing for much more flexibility, and you never have to 'start at 0' with things. You can keep multiple 'bases' to speed up breeding, but usually you can get what you need in two or three generations...IF you like math puzzles. I still need to gather a bunch of mushrooms and plan things out to get the perfect set of numbers--and sometimes need to plan out several generations in a row!--so the effort still feels rewarded. It is more of an 'active' breeding system than past games. Less waiting, less RNG, more gameplay.

You can press space to ribbit and nearby frogs will ribbit back. Not sure what else the game does but definitely worth a try if that's your thing.
